Nick Flynn in the Spring: Reading, Q&A, and new issue

Author: | Posted in Events No comments

Our Spring issue, guest-edited by Nick Flynn, has just been sent to the printers! The first line of the Introduction: Grizzly bears, electric bears, fire bears—these three are the most dangerous bears, my three-year-old daughter informs me.

It goes on to discuss Aristotle, John Donne, neurobiology, and zombies, kicking off an unpredictable issue that features work by Steve Almond, Claudia Rankine, Lauren Groff, Marie Howe, Major Jackson, and many others.

For anyone in the Boston area, Nick will be answering questions, signing books, and reading at Emerson College on April 4th, 2012.

WHERE: Charles Beard Room, Little Building, 80 Boylston Street, Boston, MA

WHEN: April 4th, 2012

4 p.m. : Q&A with Nick Flynn and John Skoyles

6 p.m.: Nick Flynn reading and book signing

Copies of Nick’s books and the new Spring issue will be available for sale.

Some of you may have heard of the new movie based on Nick’s memoir. Read the book first, of course (and make sure you get the edition of the memoir with the original title).

Here is an interview with Nick on the whole movie-making process from the Boston Phoenix. If you entered our still-ongoing Emerging Writers Contest, Nick Flynn’s issue will be the first in your subscription, and will arrive in early April.

Hope to see you all at the reading!
