In an effort to help our neighbors out, Ladette Randolph, editor-in-chief of Ploughshares will be attending The Muse and the Marketplace as put on by Grub Street. Located right next door to our office in downtown Boston, Grub Street is a non-profit creative writing center dedicated to nurturing writers and connecting readers with the wealth of writing talent in the Boston area. Each year, they put on The Muse and the Marketplace, a two-day literary conference designed to give aspiring writers a better understanding about the craft of writing fiction and non-fiction, inside information about the world of publishing, and thoughtful networking opportunities.
Ladette will be participating in the Manuscript Mart portion of The Muse and the Marketplace, in which writers have a chance to meet with one of several established literary agents or editors who will read 20 pages of the writer’s work in advance and meet with at the conference to provide direct feedback.
This year is the 10th Anniversary Muse and the Marketplace, to be held April 30th-May 1st, 2011 at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel. For more information, visit the website, add Grub Street as a friend on Facebook, RSVP to the event, and/or follow @grubwriters on Twitter.
