Roundup: Spring Cleaning

Author: | Posted in Uncategorized No comments

In our Roundups segment, we’re looking back at all the great posts since the blog started in 2009. We explore posts from our archives as well as other top literary magazines, centered on a certain theme to help you jump-start your week. This week we have posts on writing in the start of a new season.

With spring in the air it’s time to dust off the ol’ typewriter (Notebook? Macbook? Tablet??) and get to writing. Form all those ideas you dreamt up while hibernating into a best selling novel. Or something.

Below we have writing tricks, tips, and springy things to help you start afresh. Spring is here!

From Ploughshares:

  • Nothing says spring quite like the start of baseball season. In this recent post, writer Caitlin O’Neil relates writing to the Red Sox, and to the tension and unpredictability of the sport.

From Around the Web:

  • In “Spring Cleaning for Poets,” Con Chapman for Fictionaut asks herself “Can you do something about those four stanzas of three lines each at the bottom of the basement stairs?'”
  • Thinking about reviewing your ideas notebook? Matt Sinclair for From the Write Angle says, “It’s ok to let some of those glittery ideas you once liked go away.”
